I am extremely disappointed that, following Gov. Mills’ withdrawal from the U.S. Senate race, debates will not be held for that seat. Graham Platner has withdrawn from future debates, we presume, as the presumptive leader.
There is another Democratic candidate who brings more positive experience to the candidacy. David Costello has had valuable experience in state government positions, here in Maine and in Maryland. He also worked for the federal U.S. Agency for International Development doing important work benefiting people in need.
Costello should have been given the opportunity to debate even an empty seat, allowing voters to hear his views on important issues facing Maine and our country.
I hope Maine Democrats will do some research to establish for themselves what an exceptional candidate Costello is before making their decision. The primary is in June and this race is not over until then. Please consider David Costello when voting.
