Paulette Ina Candage
WEST GARDINER – Paulette Ina Candage, 81, of West Gardiner, Maine, passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 30, 2026, at Mount Joseph at Waterville with her loved ones by her side. She was born on April 19, 1945, in Gardiner, Maine, to William Berry Jr. and Earlene Fisher.
She attended schools in Gardiner, graduating from GAHS class of 1962. She was a very social and outgoing, always enjoying time with her friends. Paulette, or Polly to her loved ones, was beautiful and magnetic. Her love for life and her family was evident in everything she did.
Paulette married Victor Goodwin Sr. in 1962, with whom she shared five children with before their divorce. She was a retired cosmetologist after owning and operating the Beauty Barn in West Gardiner for many years. Her creativity and love for people made her popular with her clients, who often turned into lifelong friends. Paulette was known for her funny stories and witty remarks. She loved to keep her hands busy, often found crocheting or painting scenic landscapes on random objects. She was always up for a round of cards, especially heated games of Skip-Bo with her mother and anyone ese who wanted to join in.
She was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters, her grandson, Nicholas Goodwin,
and her beloved son Brian Goodwin who left this earth just hours before her.
Paulette is survived by her remaining four children, Tanya Goodwin, Victor (Chip) Goodwin Jr., Robert Goodwin and Nancy (Goodwin) Jacobs, all of West Gardiner; her sister, Allyn Shea of Arizona; grandchildren, Ted Dennis, Kayla Dennis, Brandon Ebert and Jackson Jacobs; great grandchildren, Cameron Rossignol and Marjorie Dennis.
There will be no visiting hours or funeral, per her request. Burial will be at a later date alongside her son at Friends Cemetery in West Gardiner.
