I was one of the individuals arrested at the Burlington, Massachusetts, ICE detention center on April 28. It was an inspirational day for me. I know many of us are extremely upset and saddened by what is happening in this country. We’re asking, “What can I do?”
With the recent escalation of ICE’s presence in Maine, I was called to escalate what I was willing “to do.” Looking back on other moments like this during my life, such as the civil rights movement, women’s movement, Vietnam War, it always required enough people to say “No” before real change occurred.
I encourage everyone who feels this way to step out of their comfort zone, to do at least a little more than they are currently doing.
