Vickie V. (Fletcher) Dakin
THORNDIKE – On April 29, 2026, Vickie V. (Fletcher) Dakin left this mortal world to join the loved ones who went before her. Born in Waterville, Maine, to the late Ralph and Lucille Fletcher, Vickie was a beloved wife, sister, mother, grandmother, and friend.
A woman of many talents, Vickie was a prolific knitter who found great joy in her fiber groups. She was also an avid gardener, happiest when tending to her vegetable gardens and sharing the fruits of her labor.
Vickie passed following a prolonged struggle with Alzheimer’s disease, compounded by a recent battle with RSV and pneumonia. Throughout these challenges, she remained a pillar of grace and resilience, defined by the kindness she shared so freely throughout her life.
A dedicated worker, Vickie was employed at Hathaway Shirt until 1988 and later at Edwards Manufacturing, where she remained until her retirement. She was well-known for her strong work ethic and the lasting friendships she formed with her colleagues.
Vickie is survived by her husband, Lawrence (Larry) Dakin, and his children, Timothy Dakin and Danielle (Dakin) Mann. She is also survived by her brother, Ronald Fletcher; her son, Danny Sweet and his wife, Kim, and their children; her grandchildren, Nikki Provencher and Joshua Provencher; and Nikki and Joshua’s children.
She was predeceased by her daughter, Lisa Provencher, and Lisa’s husband, Timothy Provencher, as well as her sister-in-law, Ellie Fletcher.
In keeping with Vickie’s wishes, no funeral service is planned. Her memory will live on in the hearts of those who loved her, carried forward in the stories, laughter, and love she leaves behind.
