After winning the Little East Conference championship, the University of Southern Maine baseball team will get to open its NCAA tournament run at home.

USM will host one of the 16 regionals for the Division III tournament, which will also consist of top seed Rowan University, Babson and Rochester Institute of Technology. The Huskies are a second seed in the double-elimination regional that will run from Friday to Sunday, and will play third seed Babson while No. 1 Rowan faces fourth seed RIT.

It’s the 27th tournament appearance for USM (30-10) and first since 2021. The Huskies defeated Keene State 11-5 on Saturday to win the conference championship.

Husson also made the 64-team field and will travel to New Jersey to play in the regional hosted by Montclair State, and also includes Endicott and Whitworth. The Eagles (24-16) won the North Atlantic Conference championship and will play Endicott in the opening game.

In softball, top seed Husson will host a regional after going 36-4 and winning the NAC title, and will take on fourth seed Endicott. The regional also includes third seed Colby (26-11), which reached the NESCAC semifinals and will play second seed MIT.

Also, Bowdoin (27-9), a NESCAC quarterfinalist, will be seeded third in a regional hosted by Moravian University in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. Bowdoin will play Moravian and top seed Westfield State will face fourth seed Cortland.
