Hall-Dale used five- and seven-run outbursts to pull away from Spruce Mountain and earn a 13-3 five-inning victory in a Mountain Valley Conference baseball game Wednesday in Farmingdale.
The Phoenix (2-5) led 3-0 after an inning and a half. The Bulldogs (2-5) scored once in the bottom half of the second, then plated five in the third and seven in the fourth.
Logan Norton doubled and drove in two runs for Hall-Dale, Isaac Fogg had three RBI, and Josias Brown had two hits, including a double, and scored three runs. The Bulldogs drew 12 walks.
Hall-Dale starting pitcher Carson Mattice struck out seven in 3 1/3 innings.
Kolby Cotton doubled and drove in a pair of runs for the Phoenix.
SOFTBALL
LEWISTON 5, MT. BLUE 1: Harlee Gasser tossed a complete-game one-hitter for the Blue Devils (7-3) in a victory over the Cougars (2-6) in Lewiston.
Gasser struck out six batters and walked one. She also contributed at the plate, with a single and an RBI.
Haydin Hughes recorded two singles and an RBI for Lewiston, while Matison Newton doubled and Elsie Cloutier knocked in a run. The Blue Devils scored three times in the bottom of the fifth to take a 5-0 lead.
Sydney Fletcher recorded Mt. Blue’s only hit and scored its only run.
MEDOMAK VALLEY 7, ERSKINE ACADEMY 0: Sidney Nicholls tossed a two-hitter, striking out 13 batters as the Panthers (9-0) beat the Eagles (7-2) in South China.
Kendall Simmons had two doubles and two RBI for Medomak Valley. Jennika Schumann added three hits.
Kaitlyn Lavallee and Emma Wooley each had a hit for Erskine.
TELSTAR/GOULD 8, CARRABEC 5: Taejyah Lego singled and doubled while driving home two runs for the Rebels (6-0) in a win over the Cobras (5-5) in Anson.
Kendall Duchart helped the offense with two singles, an RBI, and a run scored. Brooklyn Deprey, Emma McPherson, Lily Salmon and Vivienne Charette also each drove in a run.
Amiya Ribbetts singled and recorded two RBI for Carrabec. Karen Baker and Kendall Scheve each had a RBI, Kaitlin Dellarma doubled and singled, and Lilly Kinney singled twice.
SPRUCE MOUNTAIN 14, HALL-DALE 4: Bella Chretien went 3 for 4 and scored four runs as the Phoenix (3-4) earned a six-inning road win over the Bulldogs (1-5) in Farmingdale.
Chretien also drove in a run, and one of her three hits was a double.
Spruce Mountain smacked 12 hits and drew 10 walks. Santika Hodgkin tripled, drove in two runs and scored twice, Khloe Ames had two hits and two RBI, and Rylee Turner singled twice. Turner also earned the win with three strikeouts over six innings.
Anika Terrill doubled and knocked in two runs for Hall-Dale. Natalie James and Katie Murphy (double) had two hits apiece. Claire Kapinos also doubled.
CONY 14, MONMOUTH 11: Kya Douin, Khloe Price and Caelyn Lebel each belted three hits for the Rams (4-2), who out-dueled the Mustangs (5-2) in a high-scoring matchup in Monmouth.
Cony scored in five of the seven innings, including three runs in the first, four in the third and five in the fifth.
The Mustangs, meanwhile, scored in every inning but the fourth. They had four multi-run frames: two in the first, two in the second, three in the fifth and two in the bottom of the seventh.
Evelyn Pettengill recorded three hits for Monmouth, and Lillian Palleschi had two hits.
