Franklin Arias hit pair of solo home run and John Holobetz pitched six scoreless innings to lead the Portland Sea Dogs to a 2-1 win over the Reading Fightin Phils on Friday at Hadlock Field in Portland.
Arias, the Boston Red Sox’s No. 1 prospect, finished 3 for 4. His home runs in the first and fifth innings gave Portland a 2-0 lead. The 20-year-old shortstop raised his batting average to .341, with a 1.066 OPS and 10 home runs — his most in a single season.
Holobetz (2-3) allowed five hits, struck out six and didn’t walk a batter. Caleb Bolden allowed a run over two innings and Reidis Sena pitched a scoreless ninth to earn his third save.
It was the fourth straight win for the Sea Dogs, who improved to 21-21.
Bryson Ware tripled with one out in the eighth and scored on a groundout by Aroon Escobar for Reading (20-23).
