Calling all independent voters!

Maine’s June 9 primary election this year is our first held as a semi-open primary. In Maine, independents are registered as “unenrolled.” Unenrolled registered voters can now vote in the June primary to help choose a party’s candidates for the November ballot. Thirty-eight percent of Maine voters are registered as unenrolled. What a difference that will make in choosing the candidates.

When getting their ballot — whether absentee, early voting or at the polls — unenrolled voters get to ask for the party’s ballot they want, without having to enroll in that party first. Those who are enrolled in a party can only vote their party’s primary ballot.

Spread the word!

Remember, ranked-choice voting (RCV) is here, too. We get to rank all the candidates we like for that office, in order of preference, and bypass those we don’t want to see in office.
