Last week I learned that the IRS will be able to compensate anyone who thinks the government has wronged them, via a so-called Anti-Weaponization Fund. This money could be used to pay the people who despoiled the Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021. They would be paid with our tax dollars.

The Trump administration could hardly do anything more insulting to me, personally, than to compensate the Jan. 6, 2021 rioters.

I, like most other people in this country, saw this insurrection unfold on television in its entirety. The idea of my tax dollars being used to compensate these insurrectionists is sickening. 

I urge readers to do everything they can do to prevent this travesty. Call or write Sens. Collins and King and our representatives. Write letters to editors. Demonstrate. These “Jan 6ers,” as they call themselves, are an ugly stain upon our country, and cannot be paid off with our tax dollars.
