Cathy was born in Providence, R.I. to Peter L. and Dorothy Wall Doonan. She lived in Pascoag, R.I. and attended schools in Woonsocket, R.I. It was at St. Clare High School that she developed friendships that would last into adulthood with yearly get togethers.

At URI she met her future husband Jim, and they married upon graduation. They began their life together in upstate New York where Jim started working for International Paper Company and Cathy began teaching at Hadley Lucerne Elementary School. They moved several times over the span of his career and Cathy made lifelong friends at each move.
Aside from her family, Cathy’s second love was quilting. She spent hours teaching herself how to quilt and how to buy fabric, fabric and more fabric. It was a true vocation that she passed down to both of her daughters. She quilted, traveled with Jim, friends and family and had a wonderful life.
Cathy was predeceased by her husband, Jim, and leaves behind her three children, Peter, Maureen and Kate; and 16 grand and great-grandchildren.
