Donald C. Paine
MADISON – Donald C. Paine, 72, of Madison, passed away on April 18, 2022, at Maine Medical Center in Portland, with family by his side.
He was born on March 22, 1950 in Skowhegan, to Drusilla (Drew) Paine Ordway and Raynold Paine.
Donald began his working career with SD Warren Company in 1976 as a Mobile Equipment Mechanic in Bingham. He transferred to Somerset as a Mobile Equipment Mechanic Journeyman in Fairfield in 1990, where he retired in 2012. He provided over 35 years of dedicated service with the company and his many contributions to the business.
Donald was a devoted and loving husband to his wife, Lois, of 53 years. He was a loving father, grandfather, and friend to many people in life. Family was always the most important thing to him. He enjoyed the happy years of fulfillment in being a parent to his children and the fun heartfelt family/friend reunions we shared together; you knew were special moments to him always. He looked forward to his relaxing seasonal boating trips each year, traveling to the Coast of Maine and dining out to his favorite Maine restaurants together; along with family dog, Barney, by his side. He was always a big fan of watching the entertainment of Daytona 500 car racing events each year, with Jeff Gordon being a favorite driver. His happiest times at the end of life were right at home with family spending quality time with his grandchildren, who he always held close to his heart; along with many other memories we will always treasure.
Donald is survived by his wife, Lois Paine, of Madison; children, James Paine of Waterville, Kelly Paine of Wiscasset, Robert Paine and wife Amanda (Carlow) Paine of Belgrade; sister, Marjory Clukey of Skowhegan, half-brother, Jeffrey Paine and wife Jan Paine of Madison; aunt, Rowena Oliver of Bangor, uncle, Gerald Paine of Madison; cousin, Craig Oliver of Bangor; sisters-in law Carole Howard of North Anson, Sharon Shelton of Eaton Rapids, Mich.; and several nieces, nephews; and five grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his mother, Drusilla Ordway (2000) of Skowhegan, father, Raynold Paine (1990) of Madison; and brother, David Paine (2015) of Madison; stepmother, Annabelle (Rooney) Paine (2020) of Florida; half-sister, Angel Paine (2013) of Florida, half-brothers Raynold “Ray” Paine (2008) of Cornville, Barnett Dennis Paine (1980) of Madison, and Daniel Paine (1975) of Madison; aunt, Celia (Paine) Walsh (2012) of Bingham, uncle, Seth “Peter” Paine (2008) of Madison; cousins Kent Walsh (1987) of Madison and Kevin Walsh (2017) of Ghent (Hudson), N.Y.; mother and father-in-law, Richard (1990) and wife Dorothy Witham (2007) of Skowhegan; sister-in-law, Kathy (Witham) Calden (1993) of Norridgewock, and brother-in-law, Leslie Witham of Hartland.
Donald lived a happy, fulfilled, and remarkable life sharing the enjoyment of creating many family/friend memories together. He touched the hearts of everyone around him and will be remembered for his generosity, strength, and love for his family. He will be greatly missed, always held close to our hearts, and forever remembered.
Funeral arrangements were held through Giberson Funeral Home, 40 Maple St., in Madison and an alongside funeral service held at Forest Hill Cemetery in Madison, on April 27, 2022. Following a gathering at the Somerset Abbey Hall, located in historic 1892 church building at 98 Main St., Madison, in celebration of his life.
