Emery Fitzgerald

CANAAN – Emery Seldon Fitzgerald passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday June 10, 2026, with family and friends at his side

Emery was born on the family farm in Canaan on Wednesday May 11, 1932, to Benjamin and Susie (Ames) Fitzgerald. He attended Skowhegan area high school.

Emery’s early work life was a mix of agriculture and construction. For the last 40-plus years, he was self employed in construction centered around septic systems gravel and cement work Emery was a member of the Waterville Seventh Day Adventist church and attended regularly until health issues made travel difficult.

Emery was an open and honest man, if you asked he would tell you his honest opinion. He had an open and loving relationship with family and friends.

He was predeceased by his parents; his wife Barbara Lee (Hazelton) Fitzgerald; his son Danny Fitzgerald and grandsons, Jonathan Hailey and Christopher Bailey.

He’s survived by daughters, Carol Hailey and Lynn-Marie Bailey; sons, Orrin and Wyatt; grandchildren, Sara Beth Limas, Patrick Bailey, Danny Fitzgerald, Derek Fitzgerald, Jessica Strohm, Jeremy Fitzgerald, Wyatt Fitzgerald, Travis Fitzgerald, Emma Dials; numerous great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and close friends.

A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, June 17, at 10 a.m., at Fairview Cemetery in Canaan.
