Norman Lloyd Green
MADISON – Norman Lloyd Green, 87, of Madison, passed away on Monday May 25, 2026, after a three-year battle with dementia while living in West Palm Beach, Florida.
Norman was born on Aug. 12, 1938, to Lloyd and Lillian Greene of North Anson. Norman was raised in North Anson and was a graduate of North Anson Academy where he lettered in basketball and baseball. After graduating high school he joined the U.S. Army, was based at Ft Dix in New Jersey and served our country in Thule, Greenland as an Air Defense Missile Fire Control Crewman until July 30, 1959. He then served in the Reserves until Oct 1962.
Norman married Frances Kay on Aug. 22, 1959, in Miami Beach, Florida, soon after his honorable discharge. They resided in the Miami area for six years where they started their family and then moved to Madison. He worked most of his life at Madison Paper in several different positions. At the end of his career, he traveled as a customer service representative which he thoroughly enjoyed. Some of the hobbies he enjoyed were, umpiring baseball and softball, hunting, golfing as a member of Lakewood Country Club, and participating in the Maine Seniors League. He was an active member of The Knights of Columbus and enjoyed helping in the church community. He and Fran enjoyed going to their grandchildren’s sporting events, dance recitals, cheering competitions, graduations and eventually spending winters in Florida.
Norman was predeceased by his wife Frances; his daughter Catherine Green and his brother Donald Greene.
Norman is survived by his three sons, Michael and wife Pam, Donald, Mark and wife Terri who all reside in Palm Beach County. Florida. He is known as “Papa” to nine grandchildren, Christopher, Tyler, Cameron, Stacey, Megan, Lindsy, Zachary, Jacob and Haylie and six great-grandchildren, Jameson, Blake, Anthony, Madeline, Kinsley and Parker and “Uncle Norm” to many loving nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life will be held on Friday June 26, 2026, at 11 a.m., in St. Sebastian Church, 175 Main St., Madison, ME 04950.
