Julliette “Julie” (Caret) Hanson
AUGUSTA – Julliette “Julie” (Caret) Hanson, 78, of Augusta, Maine, passed away peacefully on June 8, 2026 at home.
Born on July 4, 1947 in Augusta, to Benedict and Malvina Caret (Bernier), Julie grew up in Augusta and graduated from Cony High School. After high school she entered the workforce as well as devoted herself to raising her family.
Julie was known for her love of birds and squirrels. She had a particular love for the little red squirrels she would often feed at Augusta Airport. She was also known for her warmth, her humor, and her love for her family.
She spent her career as a hard worker at many manufacturing companies including Lipmans, Kirschner, Crowe Rope, and Pine State. After her retirement in 2012 she loved spending time with family near and far keeping in touch by phone.
Julie loved feeding the birds and squirrels everyday, reading, cooking, and visiting with friends. Above all, she cherished time with her family.
She is survived by her children, Tina Hanson and Kevin Hanson; siblings Tom Caret, Judith Caret, and Mariell Wooding, sister-in-law, Marilyn Caret; grandson, Bradley Forrest and fiancé Megan Griffin; as well as many nieces, nephews; aunts, and uncles.
She was predeceased by her brothers Rod, Eddie, John, and George; both of her parents; as well as several aunts, uncles; and friends.
A celebration of life will be held at 11 a.m. on July 10 at Arch-Beta Community Center in Augusta.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you donate to Viles Arboretum in Augusta Maine in memory of her love for even the smallest of creatures, share a favorite memory of her, and/or that you perform an act of kindness in her name.
