I would like to see an editorial detailing the pros and cons of data centers. There has been a proliferation of operational data centers across the nation (approximately 4,300). Many have been constructed “under the radar” with no environmental impact studies.
While communities may enjoy incremental property tax revenues, these are offset by massive electrical and water consumption along with 24/7 noise. Since Oakland is currently considering one for FirstPark, it would be an opportune time to focus on this subject.
