FARMINGTON — Nick Mayo had 25 points, 14 rebounds, four assists and three steals to lead the Messalonskee boys basketball team to a 60-36 Kennebec Valley Athletic Conference A win over Mt. Blue Friday night.
Nate Violette added 10 points while Sawyer Michaud chipped in five assists for Messalonskee (3-0) and Jack Bernatchez had four points and six rebounds.
Mt. Blue (1-1) was led by Colton Lawrence with 13 points and Zach Mittelstadt with six.
VALLEY 67, VINALHAVEN 48: Colin Miller scored a game-high 24 points and Cody Laweryson added 20 points to lead the Cavaliers to the Western D victory in Bingham.
Miller also had 13 rebounds while Luke Malloy chipped in with 11 points and six assists for the Cavaliers (2-0).
Laweryson also had a double-double with his 12 rebounds.
Max Stanley had eight points to pace Vinalhaven (0-3).
LEWISTON 69, SKOWHEGAN 40: The Blue Devils (2-1) had three players reach double figures in a 29-point Kennebec Valley Athletic Conference Class A victory over the Indians (1-2) in Skowhegan.
Isaac Witham led Skowhegan with 15 points in the loss.
BOOTHBAY 51, MADISON 46: After playing to a 34-all tie after three quarter, the Seahawks used a strong fourth to finish off a five-point win over the Bulldogs.
MARANACOOK 71, WATERVILLE 50: Kent Mohlar scored 21 points to lead the Black Bears to a KVAC B win over the Purple Panthers in Readfield.
Cam Brochu scored 14 points for Maranacook (1-2), while Kyle Wilbur added nine points.
Devon Begin led Waterville (0-3) with 16 points.
Nick Morales and Derek LeBlanc paced Madison (3-1) with 13 and 10 points, respectively.
RANGELEY 61, NORTH HAVEN 60: Wyatt DellaValle scored 21 points and Orrin Mitchell added 12 to lead the Lakers in North Haven. Timmy White chipped in with 12 points for Rangeley (1-1) as well. Avery Waterman led all scorers with 30 points for North Haven.
GIRLS BASKETBALL
MARANACOOK 42, WATERVILLE 34: The Black Bears improved to 3-0 thanks to their Kennebec Valley Athletic Conference win in Waterville.
Christine Miller scored 18 points and Liz D’Angelo finished with 13 to pace Maranacook.
Jordan Jabar led Waterville (0-3) with 13 points and 16 rebounds, while Fotini Shanos chipped in with 11.
MT. BLUE 44, MESSALONSKEE 30: The Cougars found their scoring touch in the second half to deal the Eagles their first loss Friday night.
Mt. Blue (1-0) — which trailed 13-12 at half — got 14 points from Caitlin Kane and 12 from Eryn Doiron in the win. Addie Brinkman blocked four shots, and Emilee Eustis dished out four assists.
Sophie Holmes had a team-high nine points for Messalonskee (2-1), while Ally Turner chipped in with eight.
VALLEY 38, VINALHAVEN 30: Kyla White scored seven points and pulled down 10 rebounds to pace the Cavaliers to the East-West win Bingham.
Samantha West had a game-high 10 points for Valley (1-1) and Jordon Belanger chipped in with six points and five assists. Charlie Savoy had a strong game defensively.
MEDOMAK VALLEY 31, ERSKINE 9: Hannah Marks scored 12 points to lead the Panthers to the KVAC B win in South China.
Justice Barrows added eight points for Medomak Valley (3-0).
Katie Gamage led Erskine (0-3) with six points while Mallory Chamberlain added three.
LEAVITT 38, NOKOMIS 34: Elizabeth Goulette scored 15 points as the Hornets edged the Warriors in Turner Center.
Allie Belaire added 10 points for Leavitt (2-1).
Sidney Moore made three 3-pointers and led Nokomis (1-2) with 15 points. Mikayla Charters chipped in with 14.
LAWRENCE 72, CONY 31: Nia Irving scored 22 points and grabbed 12 rebounds to lead the Bulldogs to the KVAC A victory in Fairfield. Paige Belanger also had a double-double, finishing with 10 points and 10 rebounds. Molly Folsom had 11 points for Lawrence (2-0).
Haley Ward scored seven points to pace Cony (0-2).
CAMDEN HILLS 58, MOUNT VIEW 39: Charlotte Messer and Rachel Pease each scored 15 points to lead the Windjammers in Thorndike. Jenni Nadeau had a game-high 16 points and Halle Reynolds added 10 for Mount View (0-3).
RANGELEY 78, NORTH HAVEN 11: Seve Deery-Deraps scored 19 points and Natasha Haley added 17 to lead the Lakers in North Haven. Maddison Egan chipped in with 13 points for Rangeley (2-0) as well.
Jasmine Brown scored seven points to pace North Haven.
