WATERVILLE — The Waterville Public Library Carnegie Gallery will present an exhibition filled with child wonder and expression infused with that of an experienced artist. Abbott Meader is known for his landscape paintings. A former Colby College professor, Meader shares a selection of his “Invention on a Child’s Drawing” exhibition in the Carnegie Gallery through Feb. 28, according to a news release from the library. Meader shares 16 bright and colorful paintings that took inspiration and elements directly from drawings done by his own children and grandchildren.

The library has planned an artist reception for Meader from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, Jan. 30. This event is free and open to the public and light refreshments will be served.

As part of “Bring Your Child to the Library Day” Saturday, Feb. 7, Meader will visit the library from 1 to 2 p.m. Common Street Arts and the Colby College Museum of Art will provide drawing materials, so those interested can draw with the artist. This event is free and open to the public.

The Waterville Public Library at 73 Elm St., is open 10 a.m.-7 p.m. Monday-Friday, 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday, and 1-4 p.m. Sunday.
