AUGUSTA — A man robbed the Cumberland Farms convenience store on Mount Vernon Avenue Saturday morning and escaped with an undisclosed amount of money, police said.

The robbery happened at 6:24 a.m. and was carried out by a man with a bandana covering his face, according to a press release from the Augusta Police Department. The robber was described as weighing 150-180 pounds, wearing a light-colored hooded sweatshirt, light-colored jeans, work boots and gloves.

No injuries were reported. The man did not show a weapon when he demanded money, and he fled the store with an undisclosed amount of cash, police said.

Maine State Police responded with a dog that tracked the robber east on Bond Street. Police said “several pieces of evidence” were recovered during the tracking, but did not specify what was found.

Police asked that anyone with information about the robbery call the police department at 626-2370.
