WATERVILLE — A Waterville woman who was arrested Monday afternoon on Spring Street after screaming rape allegations against her ex-boyfriend was taken to the hospital a few hours later when another woman allegedly hit her on the head with a baseball bat, police said.
Codi Parker, 27, of Waterville, was charged with domestic violence assault around 5 p.m. Monday after screaming on the street that her former boyfriend had raped her “hundreds of times” and allegedly hitting him.
She was released from the Waterville Police Department on $500 unsecured bail. Less than two hours later, at 6:37 p.m., police were sent to a Summer Street address in response to a report of a dispute in which another woman, Nichole Smith, allegedly had hit Parker on the head with a wooden baseball bat, said Sgt. Brian Gardiner, of the Waterville Police Department.
The injuries were minor, but Parker was taken to MaineGeneral Medical Center’s Thayer Center for Health for treatment, Gardiner said.
Smith, 26, of Waterville, was arrested on a charge of aggravated assault and was taken to the Kennebec County jail. The charge was aggravated because it involved a weapon.
Gardiner said he wasn’t sure what had caused the conflict or whether it was related to the earlier incident on Spring Street.
The women were acquaintances, but Gardiner said he wasn’t sure what their exact relationship was.
On Monday, Parker was arrested after calling police and saying she believed there was a warrant out for the arrest of her former boyfriend, whom she had spotted walking on Spring Street with a group of children riding bicycles.
While police were en route to the scene, Parker confronted the man and allegedly hit him. She could also be heard screaming that he had raped her hundreds of times.
Police on Monday said there is no warrant out for the arrest of the man. There is an ongoing investigation into the rape allegations, Gardiner said Tuesday.
