SKOWHEGAN — A woman from Nova Scotia was taken to the hospital Sunday morning following a three-car, chain reaction crash on U.S. Route 2, police said.
Bet Taylor-Dauphinee, 61, suffered apparent neck injuries in the crash at about 10 a.m. near East Ridge Road, according to Skowhegan Police Chief Ted Blais.
Dolores Longhurst, 73, of Skowhegan, was driving a 2004 Nissan Sentra east on Route 2, also known as Canaan Road, when she slowed to turn left into the parking lot of a church and was hit from behind by a 2013 Toyota driven by Clyde Dauphinee, 61, of Eastern Passage, Nova Scotia.
The Toyota was then struck from behind by a 2001 GMC pickup truck driven by Robert Davis, 76, of Waterville.
Taylor-Dauphinee, Clyde’s wife and a passenger in the Toyota, complained of neck pain and was taken by EMS Ambulance to Redington-Fairview General Hospital in Skowhegan. A hospital spokeswoman on Monday said Taylor-Dauphinee was treated and released.
Blais said Clyde Dauphinee told police he couldn’t stop in time to avoid the crash and neither could Davis, whose vision was blinded by the sun, “so you got bang, bang, bang.”
Police said everyone involved was wearing seatbelts, and no charges were expected.
