FARMINGDALE — Mr. and Mrs. Roland Ackerson are celebrating their 60th wedding anniversary this weekend.

Ackerson and the former Theresa Foti were married on Sept. 4, 1955, at St. Joseph’s Church in Middletown, New York, by the Rev. John L. Morley.

They have five children, Steve Ackerson, of Gardiner, David Ackerson and his wife, Penny, of Biddeford, William Ackerson and his wife, Mary, of Whitefield, Daniel Ackerson, of Scarborough, and the late Carol Ackerson. They have five grandchildren, Michael, Stephanie, Chad, Katie and Becca.

Mrs. Ackerson, a homemaker, was employed by Metropolitain Life Insurance Co.

Ackerson is many years retired. He was the founder and owner of Downeast Construction Co., in Hallowell.

Relatives and friends attended a special celebration held at Maple Hill Farm Inn & Conference Center in Hallowell on Sept. 5.
