I have just read the Nov. 14 Maine Compass by Shirley Shepherd, “In defense of Waterville Principal Don Reiter,” and all the previous half-pages of newsprint espousing unequivocal faith in Reiter.
It seems to me that this reporting style has unnecessarily lacked balance by omitting any reference to outward shows of support by those familiar with the young woman, her friends, members of the community, etc. Why is that? She’s a minor? How convenient. Oh well, somewhere lies the truth. If the young woman is aware of what has been printed, I trust she is in good company. Whatever, let’s hope she’s surrounded by true friends.
