Messalonskee High School put on a spectacular rendition of the “The Sound of Music” at Sunday’s matinee.
It is tough to pull off a classic, but they did it with style.
When Emily Lagace looked into the mirror before going on stage as Maria, she must have seen the reflection of Julie Andrews staring back at her. It did not take long for the audience to get lost in Emily’s Maria or the cast’s Von Trapp family and ensemble.
As the performance deepened, the relationship grew between the audience and the actors. It was obvious to me, and probably others, that the cast not only portrayed a family, but also emitted the same as a company. There was a bond that seemed to transcend the stage.
I say, “Bravo,” to the cast, crew, faculty and administration for the production.
