Isn’t it time we pull our heads out of the sand and take a good look around?
Countless Maine children go to bed hungry every night. Many elderly residents who have worked all their lives, paid taxes and their dues to this state have to choose between buying food or fuel to keep warm this winter, even whether to buy required medication.
We have veterans who fought wars to protect us who are homeless and with no place to keep warm and have a hot meal.
It is about time we put our own house in order and take care of our own residents and not worry so much about more refugees in Maine.
I know I am not the only Mainer who feels this way. I like helping those less fortunate just as well as the next guy, but let’s start at home.
This is my opinion. People who read this have their own opinions. This is America, and we still have freedom of speech.
