Monmouth Community Players recently announced its audition dates and information for its 2015-16 production of “The 39 Steps.”

The Tony Award winning play is adapted by Patrick Barlow and based on the novel by John Buchan. It is billed as follows: Mix a Hitchcock masterpiece with a juicy spy novel, add a dash of Monty Python and you have “The 39 Steps,” a fast-paced whodunit for anyone who loves the magic of theatre.

The production will run from April 15 to 24 in the opera hall of historic Cumston Hall, and will be directed by Artistic Director Adam P. Blais and will be produced by Jeanne Fletcher.

Auditions will take place at 6:30 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 24, and Monday, Jan. 25, in the Opera Hall of Cumston Hall, 796 Main St., Monmouth.

Audition Requirements

Individuals should prepare a comic monologue of their choice and will be asked to take part in cold readings from the script. Individuals should bring a list of rehearsal conflicts, a ballad or up-tempo song from “Into the Woods” in the part you wish to be considered for.

Available Roles

• Richard Hannay: (30-40) The daring, leading man of the show. He is charming, innocent and charismatic. The actor must possess great endurance and superb comic timing. Standard British dialect.

• Annabelle Schmidt/Pamela/Margaret: (25-35) A paranoid German spy, a lower-class Scottish farmer’s wife, and the upper class, British romantic, lead of the show. This actress must have excellent comic timing and great versatility, multiple dialects.

• Man #1: (30-40) Plays multiple characters, sometimes simultaneously. This role calls for exceptional physical and verbal comic ability. The actor must be able to provide multiple dialects and be highly athletic with great endurance and focus.

• Man #2: (30-40) Plays multiple characters, sometimes simultaneously. This role calls for exceptional physical and verbal comic ability. The actor must be able to provide multiple dialects and be highly athletic with great endurance and focus.
