BRUNSWICK — Brunswick High School filled a bus with students and drove to Augusta earlier this month to provide holiday cheer to residents of Volunteers of America’s senior housing program, the Margaret Chase Smith House in Augusta.

Fifteen members of the B.H.S. Action Team, led by Rita Maines, brought food and games. The B.H.S. Chorus, comprised of 20 singers and led by Ashley Albert, brought lyrics to share with all.

While some students sat with seniors and played games and enjoyed a trivia contest, others worked in the kitchen to prepare a hot meal. The community room at the Margaret Chase Smith House had rarely contained so much energy and activity as the meal was served and the Christmas carols resounded.

The Brunswick High School Action Team has visited four Volunteers of America senior housing programs. Their presence brings out the fun loving side of those welcoming them to their home.
