ROCKLAND — A Rockport man has pleaded guilty to charges in a hit-and-run that killed a pedestrian last year.

WLBZ-TV reports 42-year-old Jeremy Stone entered the plea last week in Rockland to manslaughter and operating under the influence in the January 2015 death of 35-year-old Daniel Cormier.

Stone’s lawyers and prosecutors worked out a plea agreement that will require Stone to serve three years in prison, do four years of probation and lose his license for 10 years. He will be sentenced in April.

Police say Stone’s car struck Cormier from behind and then Stone drove away. Cormier was taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Prosecutors say Stone admitted to having three drinks before the crash. They say he had also taken four legal prescription drugs.
