Winthrop native Tavis Hasenfus, left, accepts his certificate of admission to the Maine Bar from Kennebec County Superior Court deputy administrative clerk Penny Moore during a ceremony Monday at the Augusta court for new attorneys practicing in Maine.

A standout baseball player who graduated from Winthrop High School in 2006 and the University of Maine in 2010, Hasenfus was sponsored by Kennebec County Assistant District Attorney Kristin Murray-James, center, to the Bar after graduating from Maine Law in 2013.

A total of 14 lawyers were admitted to the Maine Bar by Supreme Court Justice Joseph Jabar and Superior Court Justice Michaela Murphy.
