Mayflower Hill Drive through the Colby College campus will be closed from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday for the college’s 195th commencement.
“Thousands of pedestrians will be crossing the roadway in front of Miller Library and the academic quad during that time,” the school said in a news release.
The south end of the road will be closed just below the Mary Low parking lot, north of Mount Merici Avenue, and the north end of the road will be closed south of the intersection with Campus Drive. Area residents frequently use Mayflower Hill Drive to travel from the north end of the city to Fairfield on Rice Rips Road or to access Washington Street, which connects to Kennedy Memorial Drive.
The college has a variety of events on campus beginning Friday.
