FARMINGTON — The Mt. Blue boys tennis team took a 3-2 win over Mt. Ararat to advance to the Class A North semifinals.

The Cougars (10-3) earned wins from Alex Bunnell at third singles, as well as from doubles teams Thomas Marshall and Dylan Roberts, and Andrew Hascko and Tristen McFarland.

No. 4 Mt. Blue will take on top-seed Hampden Academy on Friday.

GIRLS TENNIS

No. 1 CARIBOU 5, No. 8 ERSKINE 0: The top-seeded Vikings swept the day to advance to the Class B North semifinals in Caribou.

In first singles, Erskine’s Ellie Hodgkin took the first set from Gabrielle Marquis, 6-4. Marquis rallied to win the next two sets, 6-2, 6-1.

Erskine ends the season at 6-8. Caribou remains undefeated at 13-0.

No. 3 JOHN BAPST 3, No. 11 WINSLOW 2: The Crusaders earned wins in all three singles matches to advance to the Class B North semifinals.

Winslow (5-9) picked up a pair of wins in doubles play. Kate Larsen and Emily Manocchio defeated Makenzie Baber and Robyn Henry, 6-4, 7-6 (7-2), while Miranda Gagne and Cassidy Rickard beat Tiffany Waaders and Grace Harmon, 1-6, 6-4, 6-2.

No. 4 NYA 4, NO. 5 HALL-DALE 1: The Panthers won two singles and two doubles matches to eliminate the Bulldogs from the Class C South girls tennis quarterfinals.

Addie Davis picked up the lone point for the Bulldogs (9-4) with a 7-6 (9-7) 7-5 victory over Emma Cohen. NYA improves to 9-4 and will face No. 1 St. Dominic in the semifinals.

GIRLS LACROSSE

ST. DOMINIC 7, ERSKINE 3: Caroline Gastonguay scored four goals to lead St. Dom’s past Erskine.

Katelyn Hustus scored twice for the Eagles (6-6), while Hayley Hinds added their other goal and Malorie Weaver made 19 saves. Lindsay Cook made six stops in net for the Saints (12-0).

BASEBALL

RICHMOND 5, OLD ORCHARD 2: Winning pitcher Brendan Emmons improved his record to 2-1 as the Bobcats outlasted the Seagulls in Old Orchard Beach.

Tyler Soucy had a double for Richmond (11-5). Old Orchard Beach fell to 8-8 with the loss.
