Regardless of your political affiliation, I suspect most of the readers are as dismayed as I am about two things: One, the less than stellar field of presidential candidates, and two, a protracted campaign marked by ugly and baseless name-calling.
I wish a candidate worthy of the Oval Office would materialize, but given the nature of our current political process, including the 24/7 media witch hunt, who would be interested?
For example, as I write this, the NBC Sunday morning “news” just aired an interview with Charlie Sheen criticizing Donald Trump. Charlie Sheen! And, this paper recently printed a sarcastic letter disparaging conservatives. To what end? If the intent is to further drive a wedge between Republicans and Democrats, than well done.
Unfortunately, successful governing requires teamwork and compromise. Going forward, I suggest we all grow up. Mature adults would recognize that our family, friends and neighbors are a mix liberals and conservatives.
Please stop the name-calling and stick to debating the many serious issues facing our state and country. Ah, would that it were.
