AUGUSTA — The Secretary of State’s Office says a Democratic candidate for the state House of Representatives has prevailed in a recount.
Initial results showed that Democrat Catherine Nadeau defeated Republican Benjamin Twitchell in the District 78 race by 148 votes. The Secretary of State’s Office says the recount shows that Nadeau won by 150 votes.
The district includes Benton and Winslow.
Recounts have been requested for two state ballot questions that voters approved. One legalized recreational marijuana and the other authorized a tax on high earners to fund public schools.
