LIBERTY, Maine – Fire officials say a man was hurt after a manufacturing facility in Liberty caught fire, leading to several explosions because of hazardous materials that were inside.
WLBZ-TV reports fire crews from nearly a dozen towns responded to Magnum Manufacturing Inc. on state Route 3 on Sunday night.
Officials say a man believed to be leasing the space has been taken to a hospital with injuries that aren’t considered life-threatening.
Liberty Fire Chief Bill Gillespie says firefighters experienced difficulties due to the low temperatures. Gillespie says firefighters had to move around on ice while holding a charged line.
The building was destroyed.
The state fire marshal’s office is investigating the cause of the blaze.
