A man who has not yet been identified was taken to MaineGeneral Medical Center on Saturday, after he struck a light post while riding his bicycle on Water Street down Rines Hill in Augusta.
Augusta Fire Battalion Chief Scott Dunbar said his department received the call about an unresponsive man at 4:37 p.m.
Bystanders had seen the man strike the light pole, he said.
A LifeFlight medical evacuation helicopter was sent to MaineGeneral, but it was not immediately clear where the man would be taken.
Dunbar described the man as middle-aged.
The accident is being investigated.
