Regarding “Professional runner outruns black bears” in the July 7 newspaper, I find it fascinating.

The fastest human speed recorded is professional runner Usain Bolt, with a record of 23.35 mph. A North American black bear can reach sprint speeds of up to 40 mph, or faster than a race horse.

To sum it up, if the bears wanted to catch Mr. Marube, they would have had lunch.
