WILTON — A local man is accused of sexually assaulting a woman and choking her until she lost consciousness, police Chief Heidi Wilcox said Tuesday.
Steven Eddy Pare, 50, of Wilton, was charged with two counts of gross sexual assault, one count of elevated aggravated assault and violating a condition of release.
Wilton police arrested Pare on Feb. 27 on a charge of violating a condition of release on an operating under the influence charge.
According to Sun Journal archives, Wilton police had arrested Pare on Dec. 16, 2017, on a charge of violation of condition of release based on an underlying charge of operating under the influence in Androscoggin County. He also was arrested on violating condition of release charges in September and October 2017.
Pare was being held without bail at the Franklin County Detention Center in Farmington until he goes before a judge Wednesday.
If convicted, he faces a prison sentence of up to 30 years on each of the sexual assault charges and up to 364 days in jail on each of the other charges.
