An Eddington woman who was a passenger on a motorcycle suffered a serious injury to her foot along with other possible broken bones in an accident Thursday morning in Palmyra.
Chief Deputy James Ross, of the Somerset County Sheriff’s Office, said Kimberlee Butkewicz, 19, was first taken to Sebasticook Valley Hospital in Pittsfield, then by LifeFlight helicopter to Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor.
Ross said a 2007 Ford Fusion driven by Sandra White, 74, of Skowhegan, was pulling out of the Auto Zone and Family Dollar parking lot onto Main Street in Palmyra when it struck a westbound 2007 Harley-Davidson motorcycle driven by Zachery Conners, 19, also of Eddington.
Butkewicz was Conners’ passenger on the bike.
Conners was taken by ambulance to EMMC from the scene, according to Ross White was not injured.
Both Butkewicz and Conners were wearing helmets.
Assisting at the scene were Newport Fire and Rescue, Newport police, the Pittsfield Fire Department. Deputy Warren Ackerman and Deputy Wilfred Dodge went to the scene. Deputy Brian Crater is doing the accident reconstruction.
