An April 8 article, “Monmouth faces choice over school: Cost or local control,” states dissatisfaction being expressed since the arrival of Superintendent Virgel Hammonds in July 2011.

For the record, I wish to publicly state the dissatisfaction is not with Hammonds, who inherited the problems and in no way is responsible for them.

To the contrary, I believe this community is very satisfied with Hammonds as the leader of RSU2.

The issue of lost programs at the Monmouth schools happened under the guidance of previous administrators. Hammonds is trying to correct the situation.

The current issue is clearly local control, not leadership.
