Amy Calder covers Waterville, including city government, for the Morning Sentinel and writes a column, “Reporting Aside,” which appears Sundays in the Sentinel and Kennebec Journal. She has worked at the newspaper since 1988, including a stint as bureau chief for the Somerset County Bureau in Skowhegan, and has covered a variety of beats. A Skowhegan native, she holds a bachelors in English from University of Hartford and completed post-graduate work at the School of Education at University of Massachusetts at Amherst. She has received numerous of awards from the Maine Press Association and New England Associated Press News Executives Association and is author of the book, "Comfort is an Old Barn," a collection of curated columns published by Islandport Press. Calder lives in Waterville with her husband, Philip Norvish, a retired Sentinel reporter and editor.

Waterville council moves toward ‘compromise’ housing rental rules that drop mandatory registration
