When a 1930 firetruck in Bangor’s Fourth of July parade caused an accident that fatally crushed a Holden man, suspicion immediately focused on the antique truck’s brakes and raised questions about its maintenance.

Downed utility lines closed the interstate in both directions for several hours early this morning.

One person was home at 71 Rocky Hill Road when they reported that lightning had struck the barn at 10:30 p.m., said Capt. Bill Madore of the Saco Fire Department.

Deputies say the ATV may have been driven wihout headlights, and it is uncertain who was driving at the time of the crash.

The driver, a 53-year-old Brunswick man, had to be extricated by firefighters.

Cumberland County sheriff’s deputies responded to the rollover involving a Poland Spring truck just after 6:30 a.m.
