Benjamin Scott Therrien was being held Wednesday at the Somerset County Jail on a charge of terrorizing after threatening to target his former employer, according to Pittsfield police Chief Vicente Morris.

Saturday was the opening of the $18 million Paul J. Schupf Art Center in downtown Waterville and a day-long series of events were planned for families. Construction of the center lasted about a year and a half in the heart of downtown and the center is seen as a landmark destination for years to come featuring a variety of art and cultural offerings.

About a dozen people have gathered each Tuesday since October to decorate the Fairfield History House, also known as the Cotton-Smith House, in time for a Christmas in Maine open house planned for Saturday and Sunday from 3 to 6 p.m. The house, owned by the Fairfield Historical Society, is located at 42 High St. in Fairfield.
