FAIRFIELD — A police officer involved in a traffic accident last month on U.S. Route 201 failed to yield to oncoming traffic, but did so in the line of duty and probably will not be charged with a motor vehicle infraction.

Lawyer for girl charged with manslaughter seeking closed competency hearing
SKOWHEGAN — The lawyer for an 11-year-old girl who is charged with manslaughter in the death of an infant last summer has filed a motion in District Court to have a competency hearing scheduled for next week closed to the public and news media.
