FAIRFIELD — Portland staged a pair of late rallies to knock off Central Maine twice on Saturday and win the State Babe Ruth Baseball Tournament for 14-year-olds.

AUGUSTA — There are still items on his wish-list, such as a lighted turf field, but all in all, Ron Yankum is satisfied with what he and a handful of volunteers accomplished a dozen years ago in building a soccer complex in the city.

Three youth baseball teams with a history of winning will try to continue that trend this week as state and regional tournaments get under way.

The MAYSA Hurricanes, a 12-under softball team from the Oakland area, expect to find some competition at the Eastern National Tournament next week in York, Pa.
