The Winslow High School field hockey team defeated Winthrop 4-0 in Saturday’s Eastern Maine Class C semifinal, and all four goals were scored by junior Mackenzie Winslow.

The East regionals will be held at Troy Howard Middle School in Belfast while the West regionals will take place at Twin Brook Recreation in Cumberland, also the site of this year’s state meet. The top half of each regional field in Class A, B and C advances to next Saturday’s state meet along with the top 30 individuals in all three classes combined.

GARDINER — The Gardiner field hockey team is peaking at the right time. The Tigers won eight of their last nine regular-season games and that trend is carrying over into the Eastern Maine Class B tournament.

HIGH SCHOOL GOLF: Maranacook’s Ruffing wins Class B title
Luke Ruffing opened his round with a three-putt bogey, but after finishing runner-up the past two seasons, he was determined to let nothing stop him this time around. He began his back nine with four straight birdies and finished at 1-under par 71 to win the title by three strokes over Lincoln Academy’s Seward Matel.
