WESTERN D BOYS BASKETBALL: Ouellette brothers lead Forest Hills
Instead, brothers Brandon and Derick Ouellette stepped into the limelight. combining for 51 points in Forest Hills’ 78-50 victory. Brandon, the team’s sophomore point guard, connected on five 3-pointers and scored 19 points. Derick, a 5-foot-11 senior, did all his damage in the paint, scoring a career-high 32 points.
EASTERN A BOYS BASKETBALL: Lawrence expects test vs. Edward Little
Lawrence got off to a quick start in its only meeting against Edward Little this season and put the Red Eddies away, 67-53. The teams meet again Wednesday at the Augusta Civic Center in the semifinals of the Eastern Maine Class a boys basketball tournament, and although a repeat of that start would be nice, McGee isn’t expecting it.
WESTERN D GIRLS BASKETBALL: Forest Hills presses way to win
Tuesday morning, the Forset Hills Tigers used their speed and passing ability to defeat Greater Portland Christian, 48-34, in the quarterfinal round of the Western Maine Class D girls tournament. The fourth-seeded Tigers (16-3) face No. 1 Rangeley in a semifinal game Thursday morning at the Augusta Civic Center while No. 5 Portland Christian finishes at 12-6.
WESTERN C BOYS: Madison wins on Price’s shot late
With time winding down, Madison senior Dylan Price saw an opening and drove to the basket to score what proved to be the game-winning hoop with 9.9 seconds left to play. Hall-Dale had one last shot to tie the game, but a driving layup by Mike Woods rolled off the rim as the buzzer sounded, giving Madison a 50-48 victory.

Waynflete returned a tournament tested team to the Augusta Civic Center floor and it showed as the Flyers pulled away in the second quarter on their way to a 78-47 victory.

In her first tournament appearance Friday, the 5-foot-11 center Nia Irving scored 28 points and grabbed 12 rebounds to lead the No. 4 Bulldogs to a 73-62 win against No. 5 Mt. Blue in the quarterfinal round of the Eastern Maine Class A basketball tournament.
