RICHMOND — The Richmond girls soccer team may have graduated two key players, but the Bobcats retain enough depth and experience to make a run at a third straight state title this season.

AUGUSTA — Saturday’s strong wind did little to slow Cony’s Ben Lucas. The junior quarterback threw four touchdown passes and rushed for another as the Rams routed Edward Little 41-13 for their first win of the season. Lucas completed 14 of 28 passes with one interception for 241 yards and looked effective with or against the wind.

LEWISTON — The chant “Hoggies, Hoggies” erupted from the Messalonskee bench throughout Friday night’s game against Lewiston, an encouragement for the Eagles offensive line.

Monmouth Academy girls soccer coach Gary Trafton wasn’t quite sure where his team was headed until it faced Class A Lewiston in a preseason game and came away with a 3-1 victory.
