GARDINER — As exhibition games go, Monday night’s matchup between the Cony and Gardiner high school girls soccer teams stood out for a couple of reasons.

GARDINER — It may be billed as an exhibition game these days, but the Cony-Gardiner football game still brings fans out of the woodwork. More than 3,000 showed up on a warm Friday evening at Hoch Field to watch teams square off for the 135th time in one of the nation’s oldest high school football rivalries.

Mike DuBois never saw the ball go in the hole, but he could tell from the commotion on the 17th green at the Augusta Country Club last week that something good had happened.
