MANCHESTER — Mark Plummer took a little ribbing about the royal blue hat he wore at the Maine Open on Wednesday. Emblazoned on the front were three large white letters, “ACC,” in honor of the tournament site, Plummer’s home course, the Augusta Country Club.

MANCHESTER — A number of contenders emerged at the Charlie’s Maine Open on Tuesday, but the clear-cut winner was the Augusta Country Club course. The expected assault on the 6,350-yard, par 70 course never materialized as only nine in the field of 156 players were in red numbers.

The Subaru dealership Charlie Shuman acquired 25 years ago on Western Avenue in Augusta has grown into eight separate franchises, all under the umbrella of Charlie’s Motor Mall.
