AUGUSTA — As The Red Barn tried to hold on to first place in Zone 2 Saturday, the Augusta-based team hosted two games with Franklin County. The first was quick, crisp, and well-played. The second looked like it would be the kind of game that began at 1 p.m. and was called on account of darkness.

The PFBF CPAs Half Marathon and 5K Run/Walk started in 2010, and raised $1,700 for charity. This year, the business is raising money for Special Olympics Maine, and the goal is to raise $20,000.

Still, Franklin County coach Kyle Gunzinger felt starting pitcher Amos Herrin deserved the chance to finish out the game as Madison put the tying and winning runs on base in the bottom of the seventh inning.

GARDINER — The Skowhegan Area High School baseball team made a good showing this spring, earning the No. 5 seed in Eastern A despite missing a good chunk of the roster for several games due to rules violations.
SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL SOFTBALL ALL-STAR GAME: Gleason wins Ms. Softball
AUGUSTA — South Portland shortstop Danica Gleason hit .667 during the regular season. Her college coach is especially thrilled to get her, considering he thinks she could be a Division I player.
Still, Gleason was genuinely surprised when she was announced Thursday evening as the winner of the Miss Maine Softball Award. The award, given annually to the top senior player in the state, was presented to Gleason between the senior all-star games at Cony Family Field.
