No. 3 Nokomis faces No. 7 Camden Hills at 2:05 p.m., Wednesday, in the Eastern B semifinals at the Bangor Auditorium.

The Cony Rams take on another surging team, No. 4 Lawrence, in the Eastern A girls basketball semifinals at 4 p.m., Wednesday at the Augusta Civic Center.

The Western C girls basketball tournament looks like an interesting one. When you combine the records of No. 1 Boothbay, No. 2 Madison and No. 4 Waynflete, they’ve lost a total of two games to Class C schools.

Once again, everything is set up for a Rangeley-Richmond rematch in the Western D girls basketball final. Once again, Rangeley coach Heidi Deery is having none of it.

13th-ranked Winslow threw a great defensive plan at No. 5 MDI, and held the Trojans to more than 20 points below their season average. But MDI’s tournament experience won out, and the Trojans held on for a 38-31 victory in an Eastern B quarterfinal at the Bangor Auditorium.

AUGUSTA — It looks like a blowout, and you bet it was. The wrinkle this time is that the team administering the beatdown was the No. 9 seed. Cony, which had to win a preliminary round game on the road just to get to the quarterfinals, manhandled No. 1 Edward Little, 52-35, in Friday night’s Eastern A quarterfinal at the Augusta Civic Center.

Mary Butler and Cordelia Stewart are impressive sophomores, and combined for 33 points and 22 rebounds against Skowhegan. Bragg scored 16 points herself, and almost single-handedly kept Skowhegan from focusing its defensive attention inside. The result was that Bangor pulled away in the second half for a 61-48 victory in an Eastern A quarterfinal Friday afternoon at the Augusta Civic Center.

Winslow girls basketball coach Lindsey Welch has many stories about the Bangor Auditorium she could share with her players. The Black Raiders play Saturday in the Eastern B tournament, and Welch is holding off telling them about the atmosphere.
